NT Scan

Also known as the First Trimester Screening. Basically it's a screening for certain chromosomal anomalies in the baby. They couple the measurement of the nuchal fold from the back of the neck with the results from some bloodwork to calculate the risk factors of your baby having a problem.

Our results came back just fine, as I knew they would! Our risk for Down Syndrome is 1 in 2,524 and risk for trisomy 13 or 18 is less than 1 in 10,000. Excellent odds and no further testing is needed!

It was noted that I had an elevated level of free beta hCG in my blood, which puts me at a slightly increased risk of low birth weight. For this reason they want me to have another ultrasound at 28 weeks to monitor the baby's growth. But for now, he/she is right on target for size.

Here are the photos from the ultrasound. Baby was being very quiet until the ultrasound tech woke him up with some jiggling of my belly. After that there were legs and arms trashing everywhere. So cute!
